And there certainly are many sculptors out there that are unconcerned with that. Marcofabbro's work is certainly graceful and he has applied many modernist principles regarding abstraction of form- repetition, balance, transfiguration and so on...but to laud it as the best thing since sliced bread is a bit rich, isn't it? There are many sculptors in the world that make solid public work that is conceptual in nature, would not be considered classically beautiful, and are deeply meaningful and perfectly relevant to their communities and contexts.
